We did our first ‘proper’ operation yesterday under local anaesthetic at REAL. ⠀
⠀
Thank you so much, Gary, from @the_clinic_builders for being our guinea pig! Gary had a small skin lesion on his nose that Nav spotted whilst Gary was project-managing the build. ⠀
⠀
We used the opportunity to pretend we were doing a General Anaesthetic case - check all processes are in place, check all equipment is working and practical (there’s always the worry we have missed something important!) - all went really well, the team were amazing and we had good fun at the same time!⠀

It’s true, #aestheticsurgery is #brainsurgery too. By improving the overall harmony of the nose, we not only improve the look and function, we also improve #confidence.

I see this so often in my patients - it’s one of the reasons before and after photos are often different - this patient has come in wearing makeup after surgery (for her 6 week check here), unlike for the before consultation.

(The different background annoys me, by the way, but the clinic was in the middle of a major refurb - sorry!)

Rhinoplasty is about making a better version of your nose. It’s not about a drastic change. You will still look like you. The idea is that you will have a better version of your own nose.

But, the improvement in confidence can be life-changing.

TIME OUT⠀ ⠀ Been away in the #Peloponnese in #

Been away in the #Peloponnese in #Greece for the last 2 weeks. This is a spot, called #Finikounda, and we’ve been coming here for the last 8 years, every summer. Nothing fancy, very down-to-earth, lots of Greeks holidaying here too, so it must be good, right?!⠀
⠀
It’s been a long time since I’ve managed to get away. Felt like I’ve been imprisoned in London, as I’d not left the city since 2019! That must be the longest stretch at home for me, EVER. ⠀
⠀
To be honest, I was going a bit stir crazy, and even though it was a lot of hassle to get away, it’s been worth it. ⠀
⠀
2 weeks of R&R with this lot, and I am feeling recharged. ⠀
⠀
Let’s see how long it lasts for!⠀
⠀
And here’s to more ‘normal’ travels for everyone soon. ⠀

Should everyone own up to cosmetic surgery? ⠀

I’m not sure it’s a clear yes/no answer. ⠀

@themarcjacobs recently posted about his Face Lift and it’s got lots of us thinking.⠀

Been picked up all over SM and the mainstream press like @voguemagazine⠀
⠀
People should feel free enough to ‘fess up, no one should feel worried about a backlash or being shamed. ⠀
⠀
But they shouldn’t feel pressured to own up either.⠀
⠀
What I object to is people outright lying when they have great ability to influence the ‘vulnerable’ - kids especially. I’m not going to #nameandshame here but you know who you are, oh ye with 250 million followers… 🤬⠀

What’s great is seeing accounts that encourage us to learn to accept our imperfections, take pride in our bodies as they are, and not to aspire to unrealistic goals put out there by so called ‘influencers’. Again, I’m looking at you, 250 millioners… ⠀

It’s even worse when people pretend that it’s their healthy living and eating that’s responsible for it all. #InstagramIsNotRealLife ⠀

@billieeilish recently made this same point brilliantly in the @guardian And she’s 19! Wise beyond her years. Wise beyond mine! ⠀

There is hope, the kids are wiser than we give them credit for.⠀
⠀
No amount of dieting, exercise, sleep, drinking water etc would have given Marc Jacobs the results that @drjacono has delivered so superbly, using his knife!⠀

Take a look at @alicehartdavis writing in the @telegraph to read a well-thought out analysis of this new honesty trend. I think it’s a good thing. ⠀
